This 10,000 sq ft Learning Garden serves a broad range of activities for the Portland Community College campus. Designed to accommodate a large list of uses, often simultaneously, the Learning Garden is an excellent example of campus sustainability. Students have the opportunity to tend their own garden plot, watch worms turn cafeteria scraps into compost, learn about organic gardening, and much more. Adjoining the Learning Garden is a 2,000 sq ft Children’s Garden complete with dwarf fruit trees, a “veggie tunnel”, and space for infants and toddlers to explore.
This Master Plan was created in fall 2009. New construction and implementation will begin in phases starting in fall 2009.
